It's About Variety This Season.

Tampa Bay Weddings' Winter Gown Guide | By Krystal Vereb

There are a variety of new styles and wedding gown trends coming your way this season. Styles this season express the personality of the woman wearing the dress.

Strapless gowns are as popular as ever. The style draws attention to the bride's neck, chest and shoulders. Strapless gowns show elegance and can easily be dressed up. No wonder it has been a favorite for many seasons.

White isn't the only color choice for wedding dresses. There are plenty of tints to choose from: pink, ivory, red, blue, violet, etc. Color can affect the style of the ceremony. Red is more dramatic, whereas white is more traditional. Adding black accessories, rosettes or black and white color combinations to a gown, creates a sophisticated and modern look. Brides who are seeking color, but less dramatic, should try a dress with a little color at the bust or with a colored sash at the waist.

"For weddings done in churches we're seeing trends in ball gowns, and for destination weddings we're seeing trends with strapless, light chiffon gowns," said Olga Rhoads, owner of Olga's Bridal Boutique in Tampa. "For color trends there are a lot of champagne or light gold gowns."

Tabletops aren't the only place where flowers are popping up. A fanfare of intricate floral embellishments and embroidery adds texture and whimsy to any gown. From the neckline to the hemline, these eye-catching embellishments make the ensemble.

Couture bows have made their mark on runways. Bows create girly detail or feminine flair when placed on the dress in a particular way. Whether it's many petite bows or one showstopper featured on the gown, bows create a big impact.

Trumpet-silhouettes are a fabulous trend of the runways this season. The style hugs the body just right. The way the dress flares from the legs looks divine and sexy. It can make short brides appear taller and the hourglass shape creates feminine curves.

Many dresses this winter are more crisp and clean and have minimal to no embellishments. These simple chic gowns are just as impressive as elaborate ones and brides love the traditional styles of this season.

Gowns with bubble hems provide a stunning look when paired with embroidery or crystal embellishments. The bubble hem adds a modern touch to the skirt. Whether they are long, short or mini, bubble hem gowns are glamorous.

With so many trends to choose from this season, it may be hard not to fall in love with more than one dress.
